Carjacker Yanks Plumber Out of His Van and Drives Off in Jackson Heights: NYPD

Feb. 17, 2022 By Allie Griffin

Police are looking for an alleged carjacker who forcibly removed a plumber out of his own van on Northern Boulevard last month and drove off with the vehicle.

The plumber was parked at the intersection of 87th Street and Northern Boulevard at around 10:20 p.m. on Jan. 31 when the suspect walked up alongside the van and opened the driver’s side door.

The alleged thief then threw the plumber out of the van and hopped in the driver’s seat before driving off in an unknown direction.

The vehicle was found nearly two weeks later on Feb. 12 at an undisclosed location in northeast Queens, according to the NYPD. The victim was uninjured, and it is unclear whether any items in the vehicle were stolen.

Police describe the suspect as a man between 20 to 30 years old. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing. The NYPD has released video footage of the suspect taken near the scene of the alleged carjacking.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
