A 22-year-old woman was randomly punched and then pushed down a flight of stairs at the 82nd Street – Jackson Heights subway station Sunday.
The victim, police said, was standing on the northbound 7 train platform at around 5:20 a.m. when an unidentified man approached her and punched her in the face, according to police.
The suspect then shoved the woman down a flight of stairs that leads to the station’s mezzanine, cops said.
He then picked up the woman’s bag and flung it down the stairs. None of the victim’s belongings were taken, according to the NYPD.
Police on Wednesday released video of the man throwing the woman’s bag and then walking away from the scene along the platform. He then fled in an unknown direction, police said.
The victim suffered a compression fracture to her back as well as injuries to her left knee, back and right hand, police said.
She was transported by private means to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition.
The suspect is described as being around 45 years old with a medium complexion. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs around 230 pounds, and has black hair.
He was wearing a navy-colored jacket and pants at the time of the alleged attack, according to the footage.
