Two Critically Injured After Motorcycle Slams into Dumpster in Elmhurst

A motorcycle rider and his passenger are both in critical condition after a crash in Elmhurst Monday morning.

According to police, the incident took place at around 6:30 a.m. when the rider crashed into a dumpster near the intersection of 55th Avenue and 90th Street.

Police found the operator of the motorcycle, a 26-year-old man, and his passenger, a 35-year-old female, in critical condition. They were transported to Elmhurst Hospital.

According to a preliminary investigation, the rider hit the dumpster after swerving to avoid a car while he was was heading west on 55th Avenue. The pair were ejected from the bike.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.

East Elmhurst man busted for a fatal collision in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on the 4th of July: NYPD

A Queens grand jury indicted an East Elmhurst man in connection to a July 4th fatal collision at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Yersson Diaz, 27, of Ericsson Street just south of LaGuardia Airport, appeared at Queens Criminal Court for a summons on Tuesday and was taken into custody, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. He was booked Tuesday afternoon at the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst, where he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
