A 31-year-old man from Sunnyside was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Long Island Expressway shortly after midnight Monday.

Richard Diaz, of 48th Street, was riding his 2014 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on the Long Island Expressway when he lost control and rear-ended a 2013 Porsche Cayenee SUV near 58th Street, police said.

Police officers responded to a 911 call at around 12:19 a.m. Monday and found Diaz lying on the roadway, unconscious with trauma to the neck and body.

An ambulance rushed Diaz to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The 36-year-old driver of the Porsche remained at the scene and was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.

This is the very reason I sold my bikes and will no longer ride in NYC. NYC streets are NOT biker friendly and have potholes and raised asphalt all over the place. That is a horrible way to die and my heart goes out to this guys family and I wish all my fellow bikers to RIDE SAFE!
