A past screening at the Queens Drive-In (Queens Drive-In)

The world premiere of Eddie Murphy’s “Coming 2 America” film at the Queens Drive-In next week has already sold out.
The screening of the sequel to the 1988 Queens classic “Coming to America” at Flushing Meadows Corona Park was free with an RSVP and sold out in just days. The outdoor drive-in on the grounds of the New York Hall of Science at the park has the capacity for 200 cars.
The film will premiere on the opening night of the Queens Drive-In’s Spring 2021 season on Friday, March 5 — as well as online through the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
Queens Borough President Donovan Richards is co-hosting the premiere at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
“Coming to America is the quintessential, iconic Queens film, and we are beyond thrilled to host one of the only screenings of its sequel, Coming 2 America, right here in the film’s backyard,” Richards said in a statement.
Murphy will reprise his lead-role in the sequel as Akeem Joffer and the various Queens barbershop characters from the ’80s hit, according to a trailer for the sequel — which is also set in the borough.

Attendees of next Friday’s screening will receive free food and merchandise courtesy of Amazon Studios.
Tickets for other future screenings at the Queens Drive-In are already available for purchase online and start at $35 per car — up to five passengers — and $45 for double features.
There will also be free screenings for the Queens community. Additionally, free tickets to most programs will also be made available to Corona and Elmhurst residents via local community organizations. Details on the free events will be announced soon.
The Queens Drive-In was created last summer through a partnership between three nonprofits, Rooftop Films, Museum of the Moving Image and the New York Hall of Science. The drive-in hosted more than 80 sold-out screenings between the summer and fall last year as well as multiple free community events.
The spring 2021 season of the Queens Drive-In will run through June.
