Plans filed for a new hotel in Jackson Heights

37-38 73rd Street

July 19, 2017 By Jason Cohen

A developer filed plans with the Department of Buildings Monday to construct a seven-story, 22-room hotel in Jackson Heights.

The building, which would go up at 37-38 73rd Street, would be narrow. It would consist of five rooms per floor–from the third through sixth floors–and two rooms on the seventh.

The first floor would be the lobby area and there would be a community facility on the second floor. There would also be an outdoor recreation area on the roof.

The site is currently home to a two-story commercial building, owned by Faisal Development LLC.

Mohammad Aziz, owner of Faisal, said the building is in need of repair and he is losing money on it.

He said that he decided to build a hotel and hopes to have it open by 2019.

This will definitely be a welfare hotel . Most residents of these are drug addicts which means drug dealers, hookers and other criminals will come to the area.

I hope its a welfare hotel. People need housing. And it pisses off the entitled assholes that only care about TREES and GREEN SPACES in jackson heights and not about people. I love every time they get upset about anything. IT makes my day.

This is a great idea given the need for a hotel in this area. There is the E,F,M,R,7 nearby and a active 24/7 community.

We don’t need a Hotel in Jackson Heights. That is the most stupid idea since putting those newsstand cubicles on 37th Ave. also. What are these developers thinging? We are a Residential neighborhood. Go by the Airport if you want to put up a Hotel

Op-ed: The crisis facing immigrant gender-based violence survivors

April 2, 2025 By Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas, Zeinab Eyega and Yasmeen Hamza

As advocates who have dedicated our careers to achieving gender equity and justice, and as the representative of and service providers for some of the most culturally diverse districts in the country, we know firsthand the importance of ensuring that survivors of gender-based violence receive support that speaks to their specific needs.
