A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Jackson Heights early Tuesday morning.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, was hit while crossing at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and 76th Street at around 2 a.m., according to police.

The driver, who police say was a man in a dark-colored Honda sedan, was traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Avenue when he plowed into the victim, the NYPD said. The driver fled the scene.

The victim was hit while attempting to cross Roosevelt Avenue.

Police received a 911 call that the man had been struck. Officers found him unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway, with severe body trauma

The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst and remains in critical condition.

There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
