Motorcyclist Dead After Crash on Grand Central Parkway Near LaGuardia Airport

A 35-year-old Elmhurst man is dead after losing control of his motorcycle Friday and crashing into a wall while driving on the Grand Central Parkway near LaGuardia Airport.

Carlos Tabares, of Ireland Street, was riding west bound on the Grand Central Parkway at around 5 a.m. when he struck an arterial wall in the vicinity of 86th Street/Exit 5 after failing to navigate the parkway, police said.

When officers arrived, he was lying on the roadway with trauma to his body.

EMS responded to the scene and transported him to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead.

There were no other injuries reported as a result of the crash.
