The victim was standing in front of a house at 104-38 38th Avenue just before 9:00 p.m. on May 5 when a stranger approached him and pulled out a knife and demanded his cash and property.

When the man refused to comply, his assailant stabbed him in the back of his neck multiple times, police said. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound on 38th Avenue toward 108th Street, two blocks north of Roosevelt Avenue.

EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

The NYPD released a surveillance image of the suspect on Thursday and described him as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark sneakers with white soles. A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
