Oct. 30, 2018 By Tara Law

Police are searching for a man who robbed four women at knifepoint, cutting three of them, on Oct. 24 and 28 in the Elmhurst and Corona area.

Police say the suspect first went on his violent spree on Oct. 24, robbing three women within the course of two hours.

The first incident took place outside of 94-08 40th Dr. at around 10 p.m., police say. The suspect came up from behind the victim, a 50-year-old woman, and placed his knife by her neck.

He demanded the victim’s property and took her purse valued at about $1,600. He then took off on foot north towards Roosevelt Avenue. The woman did not report being injured in the incident.

The man struck again an hour and a half later in front of 45-10 104th St.

The suspect this time targeted a 41-year-old woman, approaching her from behind at about 11:30 p.m.. He then threatened her with a knife and pulled the woman’s cellphone away from her and slashed her with the knife on her upper arm and hand. The phone was worth about $500, police say.

About eight minutes later— at 11:40 p.m.— the suspect approached a 26-year-old woman near 45th Avenue and 108th Street.

The suspect came up from behind the victim and threatened her with a knife, demanding that she hand over her purse. He then wrenched the woman’s purse away and slashed her forearm with the knife.

The suspect then took off north on 108th Street.

Emergency responders transported both the 41-year-old woman and the 26-year-old woman to Elmhurst Hospital, where they were treated for minor lacerations and released.

The most recent robbery took place on Sunday at around 2:25 a.m. near 98th St. and Corona Avenue.

Once again, the suspect came up from behind the victim— this time a 20-year-old woman— and put a knife to her neck. He demanded that she hand over her property and cut her neck with the knife.

The suspect pulled the victim’s wallet away and went off on foot east down Corona Avenue. The wallet was worth about $600, police say.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The suspect is described as Hispanic and between 20 and 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a hoodie and dark pants.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

If anyone is behind you at 2AM, keep your distance and guard up, especially if they have a hoodie on and are looking down to avoid cameras getting a clear shot of their face. I wonder if he’s legal. If he’s not legally here, he should get a suspended sentence and a one way ticket back home and if he returns again, double the sentence.

Op-Ed | Hochul: Action is Imperative on Shoplifting, but Violent Crime is Just Fine

Negotiations regarding the New York State budget have just concluded a few days ago and a budget has passed after more than two weeks of delays. But while Gov. Kathy Hochul has proclaimed this year’s ‘bold agenda’ aims to make New York ‘safer,’ there hasn’t been so much as a whisper about the safety issue New Yorkers actually care about – New York States’s dangerous bail reform laws and the State’s absence of a ‘dangerousness standard,’ which would allow judges to detain without bail those defendants that pose a present a clear and present danger to our communities. (The 49 other states and the federal government have a dangerousness standard. NY State is the only state that lacks this essential protection from the State’s most dangerous offenders.)
