Man Fatally Stabbed in North Corona Sunday: NYPD

A 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed in North Corona just after midnight Sunday, according to the NYPD.

Around 12:38 a.m., police responded to a 911 call and found Roque Alvarez Montes unconscious and unresponsive near 37th Avenue and 97th Street — just steps from his home. He had stab wounds to his chin, back and left arm.

EMS transported Alvarez Montes to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Elmhurst where he was pronounced dead.

Police haven’t made any arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The number of grand larcenies across Queens was down during the 28-day period from March 18 to April 14, compared to the same period of time last year, according to the latest crime stats released by the NYPD Monday. At the same time, rapes and robberies decreased significantly in northern and southern Queens, respectively.
