A Long Island man has been charged with attempted kidnapping for allegedly entering a Flushing home earlier this week and trying to abduct a 7-year-old girl who was in her bed.
Pete Haughton, 32, of Brentwood, allegedly entered a house on Lawrence Street at around 7 a.m. on Monday and then grabbed the girl who was sleeping in her bedroom. The defendant, who is believed to have been a stranger, then tried to drag her out the front door but was saved when her family members heard her cries and stopped him.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. “If not for her loved ones hearing her screams and acting to save her, this could have had a truly tragic outcome.”
Haughton was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges of attempted kidnapping, burglary, assault and endanger the welfare of a child. He was ordered held without bail and faces up to 25 years in prison.

His picture should be posted up for everyone to see. Clearly he is a danger to children.
That guy is probably a child molester or rapist.
They should put that guy’s picture everywhere, so parents & children could be warned & stay far away from this predator. He should not be allowed near schools, or parks or anywhere there might be kids .
