Jan. 29, 2016 Staff Report

Local officials will donate hundreds of winter coats to the community, about a week after Winter Storm Jonas pounded the city with snow.

State Sen. Jose Peralta, in cooperation with Woodside on the Move, will donate 1,700 winter coats to several local community organizations and churches, who will then distribute the coats to those in need.

Peralta will host a donation event at his office, located at 32-37 Junction Blvd., Saturday at 11:30 a.m. He will be joined by Assemblyman Michael DenDekker.

The coats being donated are for men, women and children.

A large portion of the coats have been donated by Burlington Coat Factory, as well as by U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley, K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, Delta Airlines, Inc., United Health Care and Starbucks Coffee Company, which are all co-sponsoring tomorrow’s event.
