At Home to Open First NYC Store in Rego Center: Report

Rego Center Mall (Google)

April 27, 2020 By Michael Dorgan

A major national home goods chain is moving to Queens.

At Home, the Texas-based retail outlet, has signed a new lease for a sprawling 130,000 square foot space at the Rego Center mall, according to the Real Deal.

The company has secured a 10-year lease at the 61-35 Junction Blvd. mall that will last until 2031 – with the option to renew through 2051, the site said.

The retailer is taking the second-floor space previously occupied by the department store Kohl’s, which shuttered last year.

At Home has more than 200 large format stores across the country. This will be its first in New York City.

Residents can expect a wide range of home decor items on sale including furniture, lighting, home textiles, housewares, tabletop decor, and wall decor. The company is also known to devote a large portion of its retail space to seasonal merchandise.

The announcement comes as the popular Swedish homeware and furniture store IKEA is expected to open a 115,000 square foot of space at the mall. IKEA, prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, said it planned to opening this summer.
