CityMD to Open Elmhurst Center Near Queens Center Mall

CityMD is planning to open a new urgent care center in Elmhurst by the end of the year, the company confirmed today.

CityMD will open a new center at 91-19 Queens Blvd., across the street from Queens Center Mall.

The location will be headed by a physician and it will offer treatment for a variety of ailments, such as broken bones, lacerations and illnesses such as the flu.

CityMD’s business model is to provide patients with fast access to medical care. The centers have an average wait time of eight minutes, and most patients complete their visits within 40 minutes, according to Dr. Nedal Shami, CityMD’s chief growth officer and a company founder.

The centers also offer equipment and services that are not typical in primary care offices, such as EKG and X-ray machines. 

Shami said that the opening of the Elmhurst location, CityMD’s eleventh in Queens, is part of the company’s plan to open more urgent-care clinics in the outer boroughs. The company plans to open several more in Queens over the next year including one in Sunnyside.
