A restaurant and supermarket offering Indian, Bengali and Pakistani food opened in Diversity Plaza earlier this month.

Ittadi Bazaar moved into 73-07 37th Road, which was previously occupied by the Jackson Heights Food Court.

The restaurant—which fronts Diversity Plaza–mainly serves Indian food, although it offers some Bengali and Pakistani dishes, said owner Shakil Numan.

The supermarket—which has its main entrance on 37th Road– primarily sells Bengali food, although it down offer Indian and Pakistani spices, as well as fruits and vegetables. In coming weeks, the supermarket will begin selling meat, such as chicken, beef and lamb chops.

The signs outside the restaurant still read Jackson Heights Food Court, but Numan said that would be changing soon. He has bought new Ittadi Bazaar signage that should be up in the next two weeks. He said this will also help his restaurant business grow.

The restaurant opens at 8 am to serve coffee and items such as bagels, eggs and home fries for breakfast. It remains open until midnight, seven days a week. It can seat roughly 50 people.

This is Numan’s first restaurant.

The supermarket is open 24 hours. New signage has already gone up on 73rd Street.

Numan owns two other supermarkets, one down the block from this location at  37-03 73rd Street and one on 31st Street in Astoria, under the same name.

Two thieves were caught on camera stealing an ATM at an East Elmhurst convenience store just before Christmas.

The NYPD says the two perpetrators belong to a three-man crew that has broken into 49 commercial establishments across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx in the last four months of 2024. In each incident, two of the crooks haul away ATM machines before speeding away from each crime scene in stolen vehicles driven by a getaway driver.
