Community members are invited to an open forum on Jan. 16 to discuss the future of a Jackson Heights elementary school currently under construction.

Members of the public are encouraged to put forward their wishes and concerns regarding PS 398Q, an elementary school that is scheduled to open at 69-01 34th Ave in Sept. 2019.

The school is being built where White Castle’s regional headquarters was once located. It will cater to 476 students from Pre-K to 5th grade.

The Community Education Council for District 30, which covers the school district from Long Island City to Corona, will host the forum at 6:30 p.m. at PS 212 at 34-25 82nd Street.

The official groundbreaking for the school took place in June.

The 5-story building will feature four pre-k rooms, three kindergarten rooms, 15 rooms for grades one to five and numerous specialized classrooms. The building will also have a rooftop playground and garden.

The project is intended to relieve overcrowding at PS 212 and other area schools.
