The race to the White House will make a stop in Jackson Heights this week.

Council Member Daniel Dromm, along with the Hillary Clinton campaign team, will host a meeting to help organize volunteers who are interested in supporting in her run for the presidency.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Club Evolution, located at 76-19 Roosevelt Ave. While the meeting will be open to the public, it was have a strong focus on the LGBT community, according to Dromm.

The purpose is to allow volunteers the ability to properly network and plan how they can spread the word before the New York primary on April 19th.

“We will organize so people can be prepared to help,” Dromm said. “Volunteers will put out phone calls, hand fliers on street corners and spread the word.”

“This is a rallying call for her campaign and we want to get the word out now,” he added.

He expects a “couple of dozen” of people to attend. Clinton will not be at the meeting.

Dromm, who publicly endorsed Clinton in January, expects the LGBT community to strongly support the presidential candidate.

“The strong majority of LGBT elected officials have endorsed Hillary Clinton,” Dromm said. “She has been a big supporter of the LGBT community since long ago.”

Clinton walked with Dromm and other LGBT community members in the New York City Pride Parade and the St. Pat’s for All parades in 2000, he said.

“She has always supported the LGBT community and now we will support her,” Dromm said.

Dromm plans to host many pro-Clinton events if she goes on to win the Democratic nomination.

“We will do a lot more as we get closer to the general election,” he said. “I am a big believer in Hillary and wanted to help anyway that I could.”

Dromm previously helped the Clinton campaign collect petition signatures.
