Police from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights are looking for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old man in Corona on Sunday night.

The victim was standing in front of a house at 104-38 38th Avenue just before 9:00 p.m. on May 5 when a stranger approached him and pulled out a knife and demanded his cash and property.

When the man refused to comply, his assailant stabbed him in the back of his neck multiple times, police said. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound on 38th Avenue toward 108th Street, two blocks north of Roosevelt Avenue.

EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

The NYPD released a surveillance image of the suspect on Thursday and described him as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark sneakers with white soles. A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.

Through May 5, the 115th Precinct has reported 125 robberies so far in 2024, 38 more than the 87 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 43.7%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Assaults are also on the rise in the 115th, with 184 reported so far this year, 24 more than the 160 reported at the same point in 2023, an increase of 15%, according to CompStat.
