FDNY rescues 3-week-old baby from Corona building

A 3-week-old baby was rescued from a building after a fire broke out in Corona last night.

A fire broke out in a two-story brick building located at 34-40 106th Street at 9:30 pm last night, according to the FDNY.

Lt. Adam Vilagos, from Engine 316, rescued the baby from its crib. The infant was taken to Cornell Medical Center as a precaution.

A firefighter suffered a minor injury was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, while another person remained on the scene and refused medical attention, according to the FDNY.

The fire was brought under control at 10:14 pm. At this time it is unclear what started the fire, the FDNY said.
