The Lewis Latimer House in Flushing will host a free public reading on Saturday, May 31, featuring original memoir work from eight Queens-based writers exploring themes of race and immigration.
The alleged perpetrator entered the Total Wireless shop located in the old Hua Cheng Restaurant at 41-19 Kissena Blvd., across the street from the Queens Public Library branch, just before 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5. He approached the counter, pulled out a firearm, and threatened the 27-year-old woman who was working the night shift, police said.
The suspect removed approximately $6,000 from the cash register and ran out of the storefront and was last seen running westbound on 41st Avenue toward Main Street, and he remains at large more than three weeks later, a police spokesman said Tuesday. The victim was not injured during the robbery at gunpoint.
