5-year-old dies after falling from Corona building under construction

A five-year-old boy died after falling from a third-floor window yesterday in Corona, police said.

The child, William Chen, fell from a bathroom window at around 1:30 p.m. from a multi-family building still under construction at 35-59 99th Street, police said.

Chen was found unconscious and unresponsive with severe injuries to his body, according to police. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to press reports, Chen fell through a bathroom while his grandparents, who were watching him, were on the second floor at the time. Chen’s family owned the building.

The investigation is still ongoing.
