A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg while attempting to break into a vehicle in Woodside early Friday morning, according to police.

Police said the victim was with two other teens at around 2:25 a.m. when shots were fired while they were attempting to break into a vehicle at 39-45 65th Pl. One of the bullets struck the 16-year-old in the thigh.

The NYPD is still trying to determine who fired the shots and no arrests pertaining to the shooting have been made.

The teenagers’ escapade, however, went from bad to worse after they tried to flee the shooter. The trio jumped on the back of a moped and then crashed into a car near the intersection of Broadway and 65th Street, after riding against the flow of traffic along 65th Street.

The car they struck was driven by an off-duty police officer, who would later arrest them. The cop, who was not injured in the collision, found that they were in possession of burglary tools, according to the NYPD.

Police said that all three teenagers suffered injuries during the incident and were transported to an area hospital by EMS.

The 16-year-old gunshot victim was treated for his bullet wound, while the two other teens were treated for crash-related injuries. One of the teens, 19, suffered a broken leg while the third teenager, 16, suffered trauma to his arms and body, police said.

Police said that all three teens were arrested, and charges are pending.

Fed up NY’er

Maybe it was the vehicle’s owner who shot him. I would’ve.
Parents seriously need to reel in their children or hold the parents accountable. Maybe arrest them for child endangerment as well because why is a 16yr old out in the streets at 2:30AM??
