An East Elmhurst man will likely serve two years in prison after pleading guilty late last week to groping two girls—a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old—in Corona last year, the Queens District Attorney’s office announced.

Noe Angel Soriano Cruz, 39, plead guilty on Feb. 1 to one count of first degree attempted sexual abuse and one count of second-degree sexual abuse after forcibly grabbing the genitals of the two young girls during separate incidents in October.

“The girls will likely remember this violation by a stranger for the rest of their lives,” said District Attorney Richard Brown in a statement. “The defendant’s predatory behavior for his own demented sexual gratification is unacceptable in a civilized society.”

Soriano Cruz, according to the criminal charges, grabbed a 10-year-old, his first victim, between her legs as she was inside a bodega on 104th Street in Corona on Oct. 3 before running out of the location.

Six days later on Oct. 9, he reached between a 13-year-old’s legs from behind as he followed her for several blocks on Junction Boulevard, later fleeing from the scene.

Soriano Cruz, who lives on 102nd Street, was arrested on Oct. 10.

The Queens DA said at the time of his arraignment that Soriano Cruz faced up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Queens Criminal Court Judge Suzanne Melendez, however, indicated that she would sentence Soriano Cruz to two years in prison on March 1, according to the DA’s office.

A spokesperson for the Queens DA said the drop in potential prison time for Soriano Cruz came after a negotiated guilty plea agreement.
