Jackson Heights lost a senior member of the LGBT community on Saturday with the passing of Larry Lombardi, the longtime treasurer of the Lesbian and Gay Democratic Club of Queens.

Lombardi, who was 83, died in his sleep in his Jackson Heights apartment, according to Council Member Daniel Dromm who released a statement Monday.

“Larry was an amazing human being and he will be sorely missed by all who were lucky to know him,” Dromm said. “Larry spent at least the last 26 years of his life fighting for the rights of LGBT people in Queens and beyond. He was a progressive fighter who took to the streets to fight for the things he believed in. He was active in LGBT causes until the very end.”

Lombardi was a member of the Queens Center for Gay Seniors in Jackson Heights and was also part of the Queens Lesbian and Gay Pride Committee, which runs the borough’s annual LGBT Pride Parade.

A memorial service will be held in January.  Details will be forthcoming.

RIP Larry and I know you’ll be in Heaven comforting all of those who were killed senselessly because they weren’t like
everybody else.

Man sought for allegedly groping a subway rider while she waited on a platform in Elmhurst: NYPD

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a man, who is built like an NFL player, for allegedly groping a 50-year-old woman as she waited for the subway near the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on Monday morning.

The victim was standing on the southbound M/R platform at the 59th Avenue subway station on the Queens Boulevard line when a stranger approached her and touched her left buttocks, police said. The brute fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The woman was not injured during the incident.
