A homeless man has been charged with murder for the Sept. 27 stabbing of a 25-year-old Long Island City man.

John Davies, 35, faces 25 years to life in prison for second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

Officials say that the incident took place at around 9:41 p.m. near the intersection of 80th Street and Roosevelt Avenue.

Davies and the victim, Angel Becerra-Perez, were standing at a food cart waiting for a shish kebab when the two got into an argument. On video surveillance obtained from the scene, Davies is seen chasing Becerra-Perez down the block.

Davies caught up to Becerra-Perez and pulled him to the ground, the District Attorney’s office said. Davies then stabbed him in the arm and chest with a knife he had allegedly snatched from the food cart.

Becerra-Perez died as a result of his injuries, the District Attorney’s office said.

Brown condemned Davies’ actions in a statement.

“The defendant used a knife to settle a fight and now because of this senseless act of violence, a 25-year-old young man is dead,” Brown said. “The defendant faces a very long term of incarceration for his alleged actions.”

Davies is being held without bail and was ordered to return to court on Oct. 30.

Crazies are everywhere, so put your pride in your pocket and run like the wind. I seriously doubt the point was worth the man’s life.
