NYPD Looking for Two Men Who Impersonated Cops to Rob Victims in Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona

Suspect (NYPD)

Aug. 28, 2018 By Christian Murray

The NYPD is looking for two men who impersonated cops as a means to rob their victims in Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights last month.

The first incident took place at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, when one of the suspects approached a 44-year-old man in front of 37-27 103rd Street and stated “Policia,” according to the NYPD.

The suspect then searched the victim’s pockets and took $500 from him before fleeing in a vehicle driven by another male.

The victim held onto the car and was dragged, police said. He sustained minor injuries.

On Saturday, July 21, the two suspects targeted a 54-year-old man in front of 80-11 Broadway at about 10:35 p.m. and asked the victim to show ID. The men snatched his wallet that contained $760 and then fled northbound on Broadway in a dark colored four-door sedan, police said. There were no injuries.

Police say the two men struck again at about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, when they targeted a 51-year-old man at the intersection of 35th Avenue and 93rd Street. The pair asked the victim for ID and then snatched his wallet containing $1,000. They fled northbound on 93rd Street in a dark-colored, four-door sedan.

Both suspects are described as Hispanic. The police released video of a dark colored Toyota Prius used by the suspects and a sketch artists put together an image of one of the men.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782)

Once again, you are all fools!!
We still have mafia and KKK.
Btw, there was a Nazi who lived in Jackson Heights for well over 50 years!! Nobody said boo until this year.
Racism is the devils playground.
Stop playing!!
Ignorance, ignorance all here in your face.
So stop complaining, love your neighbor, love your
“so called” enemies.

Something about this story doesn’t add up…all these victims had between $500-$1,000 cash in their wallets or pockets? Who carries around that much cash? For what purpose? It seems the suspects were targeting their victims.

I like to think most people carry minimal cash and use credit cards instead. However, this city embraces illegal immigrants and they behave as if they never left Mexico or Central America. Even with the benefits of IDNYC, they choose to be backwards.

Most of the readers on this site will down vote this comment because it doesn’t fit their agenda. This kind of crime will continue to grow as long as illegal immigrants continue flocking to NYC.

JH resident, you keep putting down Mexicans & Central American, you sound so insecure –

The article states both suspects were described as Hispanics. The areas where these robberies occurred are predominantly Mexican/Central American/Colombian.

Why is it an issue to call it like it is?

Hispanics are in the Caribbean & South America.
Not just in Mexico or in Central America.

First of all you probably never even stepped in New York let alone live in it. I’m from that Nieghborhood and I know the struggle of what it is to be down to your last dollar. But for you to blame it on immigrants family’s for the crime is drastic, the so called immigrants are the reason that this Nieghborhood is flourishing to what it’s is, we seen better days. The real issue here is the police and the justice system who is built against all people of low income or minority’s. How can we have Non-New yorkers patrolling the streets, taking care of us when they not even from here. How can they know what’s going on with the society when they’re not part of it. There’s no reason why we should be harrassed by Billy Bob from Pennsylvania just because of the way I look. And it happens a lot
