Robbery Victim Dies Due To Injuries From Attack

An 80-year-old woman has died due to injuries she sustained during a robbery, according to the NYPD.

Her death has been deemed a homicide.

Police responded to the robbery at 76th Street and 35th Avenue, around 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 5. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, 80-year-old Celica Londono of 76th Street, with injuries to her face, abdomen and arms. Londono was transported to Elmhurst General Hospital.

Police also arrested a 32-year-old Brooklyn man, Jordan Vecchio, on the day of the incident.

Then, on Sept. 9, Londono died due to the injuries she had sustained, according to police. Following the Medical Examiner’s ruling of homicide, additional charges are pending.

Police from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst and Transit District 20 are looking for a young man who robbed a woman at the Woodhaven Boulevard subway station near Queens Center Mall on the night of Friday, Jan. 5.

Two thieves were caught on camera stealing an ATM at an East Elmhurst convenience store just before Christmas.

The NYPD says the two perpetrators belong to a three-man crew that has broken into 49 commercial establishments across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx in the last four months of 2024. In each incident, two of the crooks haul away ATM machines before speeding away from each crime scene in stolen vehicles driven by a getaway driver.
