Man Steals Over $14K From Jackson Heights Bodegas, Restaurant: NYPD

Police are looking for a man who allegedly stole more than $14,000 in cash and goods from two bodegas and a restaurant in the Jackson Heights and East Elmhurst neighborhoods last month.

The first burglary happened on July 12 at around 2:30 a.m., when the thief entered the Super Bazaar grocery/bodega at 75-10 31st Ave. through a rear door and by pushing in an air conditioning unit, police say.

Once inside, he stole $2,400 in cash, $1,000 in rolled coins, cigarettes, prepaid calling cards, and lottery tickets.

The next incident happened just before 4 a.m. on July 25, when the same thief stole $550 in cash from Growing Farm at 76-21 37th Ave. after entering the site through a back alleyway.

Astonishingly, the thief then broke through a plasterboard wall at Growing Farm and was able to enter Due Fratelli, the Italian restaurant next door at 76-23 37th Ave., according to police.

The thief stole a whopping $8,000 from the restaurant, and a laptop valued at $2,600.

The cash and goods stolen in the three incidents are valued at $14,550 at least.

Police have provided surveillance video showing the suspect, wearing all black and with a face mask, at Super Bazaar and at the back alleyway connecting to Growing Farm.

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.

Some of the vehicles were stolen from owners’ driveways, some with the keys or key fobs inside. The defendants are charged in nine separate indictments for a total of 373 counts, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday.

Masked gunman robs Total Wireless store in Flushing, steals $6K: NYPD

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are looking for a masked gunman who pulled off an armed robbery at a cell phone store on the night of Monday, May 5.

The suspect entered the Total Wireless shop located in the old Hua Cheng Restaurant at 41-19 Kissena Blvd., across the street from the Queens Public Library branch, just before 7 p.m. He approached the counter, pulled out a firearm, and threatened the 27-year-old woman who was working the night shift, police said Wednesday.
