Man Found Dead on Moore Homestead Playground Bench

Police discovered a man lying dead on a park bench inside Moore Homestead Playground in Elmhurst this morning.

Police responding to a 911 call arrived at the playground, which is located near 82nd Street and Broadway, at around 6:08 a.m. They discovered the man, who has not been identified, lying face down on a bench.

Emergency responders pronounced him dead on the scene. Police say that the man did not show any obvious signs of trauma, but that the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The police investigation is ongoing.

East Elmhurst man busted for a fatal collision in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on the 4th of July: NYPD

A Queens grand jury indicted an East Elmhurst man in connection to a July 4th fatal collision at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Yersson Diaz, 27, of Ericsson Street just south of LaGuardia Airport, appeared at Queens Criminal Court for a summons on Tuesday and was taken into custody, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. He was booked Tuesday afternoon at the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst, where he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
