The HSBC bank branch on 37th Avenue was robbed this afternoon, according to police.
The perpetrator entered the bank, located at 76-27 37th Ave., at around 1:15 p.m. and held up a sign to a teller demanding money.
The sign read something to the effect of: “Give me all the money in your box,” police said.
The teller told police that the suspect appeared to be carrying a gun, although she was not certain.
The suspect fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and in his 40s.
