Double Rainbow Bakery Temporarily Closed by Health Department

Double Rainbow, an Asian bakery in Elmhurst, has been temporarily closed by the Health Department. 

Double Rainbow, located at 82-51 Broadway, was closed after an inspection on May 16. 

The health inspector described two violations, including live roaches, which earned the bakery 32 violation points.

The inspector also issued the restaurant a “notice of violation” after an inspection on Feb. 2, 2016. The restaurant received 36 violation points after that inspection, including for roaches.

The inspector listed the following violations after the inspection on May 16; the first was listed as critical.

1) Live roaches present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.

2) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.

Man sought for allegedly groping a subway rider while she waited on a platform in Elmhurst: NYPD

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a man, who is built like an NFL player, for allegedly groping a 50-year-old woman as she waited for the subway near the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on Monday morning.

The victim was standing on the southbound M/R platform at the 59th Avenue subway station on the Queens Boulevard line when a stranger approached her and touched her left buttocks, police said. The brute fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The woman was not injured during the incident.
