Several Queens Library locations are set to host Drag Queen Story Hour events all through the month of May.
The events, which involve drag queens reading stories to children ages 3 to 8, aim to raise awareness of gender diversity and self-acceptance, all while enjoying a fun literary experience, according to the Queens Library.
The month-long series will kick off at the Woodside Library, located at 54-22 Skillman Ave., at 4 p.m on May 9.
Other locations include the Jackson Heights Library at 35-51 81st St., where a bilingual Spanish and English Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) will take place on May 10 at 3:30 p.m. A follow up event will take place on June 3.
The Elmhurst Library at 86-07 Broadway will also see a DQSH event on May 22 at 4 p.m., and a follow up on June 19.
DQSH will also travel to Astoria for a May 16 event at the Steinway Library, located at 21-45 31st St. The story time begins at 3 p.m.
Councilmember Daniel Dromm (D-Jackson Heights), who is funding DQSH at the Jackson Heights and Elmhurst libraries, says the event is a fun way to encourage children to read.
“It is also a great way to teach them to embrace our society’s differences and diversity,” Dromm said in a statement.

Soon we will have to hear Dromm’s big mouth when he poses with all his political buddies at the Queens Pride Parade. Ask him who gets to have the free food behind the stage since he is such a progressive. The whole thing reeks of favoritism and a win for the all the bars in the area that day.

Councilmember Daniel Dromm should fund programs like fire safety for the kids , CPR for the parents
Council member Daniel Dromm, just so you know that 3yrs – 8yrs and all children are innocent , they want to play and act like children, they do not want to embrace any life style .
Stop forcing your way of thinking on young children by having these events . Fund programs that promote healthy eating & exercise.
That Drag Queen in the picture looks scary , but I guess that what Councilmember Daniel Dromm likes .
If he wants to promote diversity then he should have other people there too .

Council member Daniel Dromm should invite FDNY – Ladder 154 & Engine 307 on N blvd. To encourage the kids to read , why always Drag Queens, this is the second time he does this .
Why does it have to be Drag Queens to encourage the children to read ? Why can’t it be the brave men & women from the force – NYPD, FDNY or the military ? ? . I’m should the kids would find them more interesting

Again with the Drag Queens, Council member Daniel Dromm should focus on safer streets , and if he wants to do something for the children in Jackson Heights he should fund Summer programs & after school programs, he’s obsession with Drag Queens and kids is too much.
