A pedestrian who was hit by a taxi in Jackson Heights last week while crossing the street has died, according to police.

Amit Roy, 55, was crossing 74th Street, at the intersection with 37th Ave, when a yellow-cab driver who was backing up his vehicle struck him on August 19th at about 1:10 am, police said.

Roy, who lived in Staten Island, was transported to Elmhurst General Hospital, where he passed away at approximately 8:25 pm the day of the incident, police said.

The 2013 Ford taxi stopped at a red light just past the pedestrian crosswalk. The driver attempted to reverse out of the crosswalk when he struck the victim.

The driver remained on the scene.

The driver has not been charged, although the investigation is still ongoing, according to a NYPD spokeswoman.
