A Jackson Heights man who organized a get-together for neighborhood dads last month is putting on another event at a local bar after deeming the first meeting a success.

Johnny Goldstein, a Jackson Heights father who organized the event, said that about 25 fathers showed up to the Ready Penny Inn, located at 37-07 73rd Street, on July 31—which he said was a better-than-expected turnout.

Goldstein now plans to make it a regular event, called ‘Dad Beer Meet Up,’ on the last Friday of each month. Goldstein will host this month’s gathering on August 29th at 9:30 pm, again at Ready Penny Inn.

Goldstein, a local dad who has a 4-year-old daughter, decided to coordinate the original event last month to revive his social life, claiming it has shriveled up since becoming a family man.

The gathering generated plenty of interesting discussions, Goldstein said. Fathers spoke about their children, where the live, and their occupation, he added.

It was easier for attendees to approach each other because they were all gathered for the same reason, Goldstein said.

The fathers came from Jackson Heights, Woodside, Elmhurst and East Elmhurst.

The dads were of varying backgrounds– whether it be by age, ethnicity, occupation or in terms of how old their children are. One man who was there was expecting to be a father within the week.

“It was a lot of fun to see everyone come together,” he said.

Goldstein has bumped into several of the fathers in the neighborhood since, with some accompanied by their wife or kids.

“It is really nice to know more people in the neighborhood,” he said. “It’s why I did it in the first place.”

Some dads who attended last month’s event suggested hosting it at a different location each month. Goldstein said he is looking into other venues.

“This could potentially lead to new people attending,” he said. “It will be fun to mix it up.”

The New York City Council passed a landmark bill on Wednesday, aiming to relieve renters of paying hefty broker fees — a cost that will now fall on the party who hires the listing agent. Known as the FARE Act (Fairness in Apartment Rentals), the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority of 42-8, despite opposition from Republicans and conservative Democrats.
