Feb. 26, 2018 By Tara Law

A 63-year-old homeless man has been arrested for attempting to rob a woman at knifepoint in a Jackson Heights apartment building on Feb. 5.

Michael Roque, according to police, followed a 39-year-old woman into the vestibule of an apartment building at 76th Street and 35th Avenue at around 8 p.m., before grabbing her from behind and threatening her with a knife.

Roque, who has been charged with robbery, tried to yank the woman’s purse away, but the woman fought back and dragged Roque out of the building.

A passerby heard the victim screaming for help and came to her aid. Roque took off down 76th Street empty-handed.

The woman got a small cut on her left hand in the incident. EMS treated her on the scene.
