Police Arrest Driver Who Struck And Killed 82-year-old Pedestrian on Northern Boulevard

Police have arrested a driver who struck and killed an 82-year-old woman who was crossing Northern Boulevard at 90th Street on Jan. 5.

Lance Timote, 22, of Rochdale Village, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care following an investigation into the death of Myriam Nino who was run over near her 90-09 Northern Blvd home.

Timote was driving a 2002 grey Toyota Corolla south on 90th Street in Jackson Heights at 1:43 p.m. as Nino was crossing Northern Boulevard, according to a police.

Timote turned his car right onto Northern Boulevard and struck Nino with his right bumper. Nino was thrown to the ground and her head hit the pavement.

Nino was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where she died on Jan 20.

Timote was taken into police custody on the scene.

Three homeless men were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday and variously charged with felony robbery, attempted gang assault, and assault for allegedly stealing the belongings of a 69-year-old homeless man who was asleep on a Manhattan-bound 7 train in Woodside early Sunday morning.

The victim woke up and tried to regain his property. During the ensuing brawl, the victim fatally stabbed a 37-year-old assailant and slashed a second man. The victim has not been charged in the fatal stabbing. The investigation by the NYPD’s Queens Homicide Squad and members of the 108th Precinct in Long Island City remains ongoing.
