Jackson Heights Teenage Girl Goes Missing, Father Turns to Facebook to Find Her

Dec. 29, 2017 By Tara Law

A Jackson Heights father has taken to social media to find his 14-year-old daughter who went missing from 81st Street yesterday.

Mike Solis posted a photo of his missing daughter, Destiny Solis, on Facebook last night that has been shared nearly 20,000 times since. The photo was captioned with a call for help.

“Our family is worried about her and just want her home safely!” Solis wrote.

Nearly 2,000 Facebook users have left comments notifying him that they have shared the posting. The posting was largely shared by New Yorkers but was also shared by residents of Puerto Rico and California.

Solis, when called by the QueensPost, said he was under a great deal of stress and was unable to comment at this time.

Destiny Solis was last seen around 4:30 p.m. at Monika Nails & More salon at 32-10 81st St., according to police. Her parents told the police that Solis had left the salon to go to their 81st Street home. She was reported missing at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

The NYPD believe that Solis ran off with her boyfriend, although a police spokesperson did not have information pertaining to the man, such as his name or address.

Solis is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 105 pounds. She has brown hair, blue eyes and red rimmed glasses. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a military green jacket, a gray hat and black Vans sneakers.
