71-year-old Elmhurst man killed in hit-and-run on Northern Blvd., cops looking for driver

Sept. 27, 2017 By Tara Law

The police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 71-year-old Elmhurst man on Northern Boulevard earlier this month.

The victim, Jose Gomez, was hit while standing by his parked car on Northern Boulevard near 85th Street at about 4 pm on Sept 13, police announced today.

When police arrived on the scene they found Gomez lying on the road suffering from head trauma. The sedan that struck him had fled the scene.

EMS brought Gomez to Elmhurst General Hospital, where he died on Sept. 17.

Police said the driver of the sedan that struck Gomez was going east on the center lane of Northern Boulevard and hit him with the right side of the car.

Gomez was thrown forward and went into his own vehicle and another parked car before landing on the road.

The police investigation is ongoing.
