NYPD: Thief steals $2,300 worth of musical instruments from Corona church

A thief broke into a Corona church early Tuesday and stole $2,300 worth of musical instruments, according to police.

At 2:25 a.m. on Aug. 15, the suspect entered the Canaan Baptist Church at 35-23 108 Street through a window after unlocking a side door to the church, and stole the instruments. The thief then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the burglar, described as male, Black, and between 30 to 40 years old stuffing an instrument into a black garbage back inside the church. He was last seen wearing a yellow jacket and jeans.

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a man, who is built like an NFL player, for allegedly groping a 50-year-old woman as she waited for the subway near the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on Monday morning.

The victim was standing on the southbound M/R platform at the 59th Avenue subway station on the Queens Boulevard line when a stranger approached her and touched her left buttocks, police said. The brute fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The woman was not injured during the incident.
