Elderly man struck in face with metal pipe over parking space, NYPD says

A 74-year-old man was struck in the face with a pipe and hospitalized over a parking space, police said.

The victim was attempting to park his car in front of 32-65 83rd Street on July 11th at 1:40 pm, when another driver got out of his nearby vehicle approached the victim and struck him in the face with a metal pipe, according to the NYPD.

The elderly man was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, according to police, where he was treated for swelling and lacerations, before being released.

The suspect, who police described as an Asian man in his 30’s, fled the scene in a black sedan. The suspect was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

The suspect has black hair, brown eyes and is approximately 5-foot-9-inches and 150 pounds.

The NYPD released a sketch of the suspect and are asking anyone with any information to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
