Denny’s scheduled to open Jackson Heights location Jan. 25

Jan. 2, 2017 By Christian Murray

Denny’s is scheduled to open in Jackson Heights in a little over three weeks.

The diner chain, which put up a “coming soon” sign at its 87-10 Northern Blvd. location in May, announced that it will be opening January 25 on its Facebook page.

The company planned to open the restaurant in fall but ran into construction delays.

This will be the first Denny’s in Queens, according to the company’s website. There are two other locations in New York City. One is located on Nassau Street in Manhattan and the other on Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn.

The chain is known for serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It has more than 1,700 restaurants worldwide.

Denny’s is currently recruiting staff for its Jackson Heights location and is interviewing prospective cooks and servers on site between 9am and 3pm today through January 6.

The restaurant is located in a large new commercial building that is also home to Chipotle Mexican Grill, which opened in December 2015, and Dunkin Donuts that opened in March 2016.

I’m disappointed to see another fast food franchise open in Jackson Heights. Not the sort of eating establishment that provides a nutritious meal. An alternative model is needed to encourage entrepreneur immigrants to open a restaurant.
