NYPD: Man arrested for trying to lure girl out of an Elmhurst apartment lobby

A Corona man has been arrested for endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly trying to lure a girl from her Elmhurst apartment building earlier this month.

Jaime Arias, 33, allegedly went inside the lobby of an apartment building near 81st Street and 41st Avenue and tried to lure a 13-year-old girl away who was waiting for her school bus. The incident took place on October 6, at around 6:15 am, according to police.

Arias spoke to the girl and tried to persuade her to leave her residence, according to police. The girl ran to her bus when it arrived, and the Arias allegedly fled.

The girl was not injured.

Police from five Queens precincts are looking for a pair of burglars who targeted independent mom-and-pop drugstores from Fresh Meadows to Astoria throughout December.
