Man Arrested In Accidental Corona Shooting

A 29-year-old man has been arrested for fatally shooting another man while “play fighting” with a gun, according to police.

Christian Penaloza, 29, who lives on National Street, was arrested and is being charged with criminally negligent homicide. He had allegedly been “horsing around” with a gun, a police spokesperson said, and wound up shooting another man.

Officers responded to the scene at 45th Avenue and National Street on Sunday at 7:45 p.m., and found the man with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim was transported to Elmhurst General Hospital where he died due to his injuries on Monday, according to the NYPD.

Police are withholding the name of the deceased until his family is notified.

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a man, who is built like an NFL player, for allegedly groping a 50-year-old woman as she waited for the subway near the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on Monday morning.

The victim was standing on the southbound M/R platform at the 59th Avenue subway station on the Queens Boulevard line when a stranger approached her and touched her left buttocks, police said. The brute fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The woman was not injured during the incident.
