First Denny’s In Queens To Open On Northern Blvd

Denny's northern blvd

June 6, 2016 By Michael Florio

Denny’s is coming to Jackson Heights.

The diner chain recently put up a coming soon sign in a large commercial property located at 87-10 Northern Blvd.

The restaurant is tentatively expected to open in three months, depending on construction time, according to property manager Jaime Contreras.

A Denny’s spokeswoman said that the establishment will open later this year, but could not provide further information at this time.

This will be the first Denny’s in Queens, according to the company’s website. There are two other locations in New York City. One is located on Nassau Street in Manhattan and the other on Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn.

Denny’s is not the only chain to come to this Northern Boulevard property recently.

Chipotle Mexican Grill opened at 87-10 Northern Blvd. in December. Dunkin Donuts opened next door to the taco/burrito chain in March.

It baffles me when people from NYC are so racist, especially from such a diverse place as Jackson Heights. We are a city of immigrants, with many diverse cultures, and “black” is a race that many of them identify with. You are disgusting.

Your ignorance of the racist history of some Denny’s restaurants is what baffles me. The post you find disgusting (actually, you stated that the person posting it was disgusting, which I find REALLY disgusting – even though i don’t find you, as a person, to be disgusting) is clearly making a reference to that racist history which the Denny’s chain is still trying to live down. The managers at various Denny’s franchises who discriminated did not distinguish among various minority groups – all were fair game, especially Afro-Americans. The comment to which you objected is exactly on point, and I, too, will be scrutinizing the new Denny’s regarding the diversity of its employees and the attitude of its staff to minority customers.

It always baffles me when people from NYC are racist, especially from such a diverse place as Jackson Heights. We are a city of immigrants, many of whom come from cultures that can identify with the “black” race. With an attitude like yours, move out. We don’t need people like you in our city.
