A new bar and restaurant will soon open on Northern Boulevard, with the goal of providing a family-friendly space to enjoy sports and food.

Yeras Sports Bar & Restaurant, located at 86-09 Northern Blvd., will open its doors as soon as the establishment receives its liquor license, according to owner Carolina Rojas.

She is hopeful that the State Liquor Authority will grant them the license in early June.

She got the thumbs up from Community Board 3 last Thursday. However, the Board’s decision is advisory; the SLA ultimately grants or denies liquor licenses.

Yeras’ menu will consist of Latin food, with a mix of other cuisines as well as bar food. There will be Colombian dishes, as well as tacos, Greek potatoes, potato skins and chicken wings.

Rojas said the establishment will be a family-friendly sports bar.

“There is no place to take your kids and enjoy a game,” she said at the CB 3 meeting. “We want to be the place where families go to enjoy a soccer or baseball game.”

“We hope to be different,” she added.

The bar/restaurant can seat up to 74 people. It will be open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday. They are planning on being open from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, although they could stay open until 4 a.m. if the crowd warrants.

If it takes a while for the SLA to approve her application, Rojas said she might open the restaurant portion of the business prior to receiving the license.

Another bar. Please kid friendly. Who brings there child to a bar to watch a game. Northern Blvd. has enough bars with people especially on the weekend being rowdy and drunk. I see it every time. The precinct needs to Crack down on this or it will become just like Roosevelt Ave. which is a disaster.
