An acclaimed filmmaker who has been working on a documentary about Jackson Heights for the past year has released his trailer.
Frederick Wiseman, who has won a Peabody Award for his one of his 40 documentaries, features clips showcasing various immigrant groups; the annual Pride Parade; a meeting about the controversial Business Improvement District and religious services.
The film, aptly called “In Jackson Heights,” was shot over the summer of 2014. Wiseman, who is currently editing the fill, aims to complete it by fall. He is seeking funds via Kickstarter to pay some of the bills in putting it together.
Wiseman’s films are typically played on public TV.
