Colombian restaurant opens on 37th Avenue

Bachue

June 18, 2015 By Michael Florio

A new Colombian restaurant opened its doors in Jackson Heights last week.

The restaurant, called Bachue Restaurant and Bar, is located at 86-02 37th Avenue, and offers a variety of Colombian dishes as well as a full bar serving wine, beer and cocktails.

The restaurant offers a large fish selection and all the traditional Colombian trappings—such as beef patties, sirloin steak, pork chops, roast chicken and lentils.

The owner took over the space 18 months ago after the previous tenant Listo El Pollo left. Since then he has been renovating it.

The manager of the restaurant, Daniel Santanber, said the owner was attracted to space by its prominent corner location as well as the pedestrian traffic.

“No matter what time of the day it is—there are always people walking by,” Santanber said.

The owner, who didn’t want to disclose his name, decided to open a restaurant the neighborhood since there is a large Colombian population.

The owner also has a Colombian restaurant in Astoria called La Fonda Antioquena (32-25 Steinway Street).  He took over that location roughly eight years ago, Santanber said.

This will be his second restaurant.
