FDNY: 88-year-old man killed in house fire in East Elmhurst Sunday

An elderly man was killed in a house fire in East Elmhurst early Sunday, according to the FDNY.

The FDNY received a call at about 4:30 am that a fire had broken out on the first floor of a two and a half story brick home on 87th Street.

An 88-year-old man was discovered on the first floor unconscious and unresponsive after the FDNY put out the 25-07 87th Street fire.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation

Masked gunman robs Total Wireless store in Flushing, steals $6K: NYPD

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are looking for a masked gunman who pulled off an armed robbery at a cell phone store on the night of Monday, May 5.

The suspect entered the Total Wireless shop located in the old Hua Cheng Restaurant at 41-19 Kissena Blvd., across the street from the Queens Public Library branch, just before 7 p.m. He approached the counter, pulled out a firearm, and threatened the 27-year-old woman who was working the night shift, police said Wednesday.
