Driver Kills Pedestrian While Backing Into Parking Spot

A Corona woman was struck and killed as a driver was backing into a parking spot this morning, according to police.

A 54-year-old woman was reversing into a parking space at the intersection of 37th Avenue and 113th Street. As she was reversing she struck the 64-year-old woman who was crossing the street, according to the NYPD.

The victim, who police have identified as Lin Qinyun, a Corona resident, was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where she died due to injuries.

The incident occurred this morning at 8:45 a.m. The driver remained at the scene, the NYPD said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident. No summonses or arrests have been made, according to police.
